  Canadian Guide to Uniform Legal Citation (aka The McGill Guide) was created in to establish a uniform bilingual standard for legal citation in Canada. It has been published by the McGill Law Journal and is now in its eighth edition. Most Canadian law journals, law schools, and practitioners, as well as many courts have adopted this standard. McGill is the oldest university in Montreal and one of just three English-language universities in Quebec. It is a public research institution that takes its name from Glaswegian merchant, James McGill, whose bequest in led to the formation of McGill College. In it was established as the nation’s first faculty of medicine. The university is made up of 11 faculties, with 11 schools.
